David Lewis - Chairman Board of Directors
David has over 33 years of domestic and international experience in oil & gas exploration and production. He has a management and strong engineering background in drilling, completions and offshore structures with experience in deepwater, big bore (mono bore) and high pressure - high temperature wells (surface pressures of 30,000 psi and surface temperatures of 450 degrees F, with H2S and CO2). He has specific expertise in technology management, deepwater drilling, HPHT wells, reliability-based design, tubulars, connections, marine drilling risers, conductors, pipelines, offshore structures, down-hole equipment, project management, training and finite element analysis. He was with Mobil from 1981 to 2000 and Blade from 2000 to present day. At Mobil he led the development of Mobil’s reliability-based tubular design technology, deepwater floating drilling technology and he developed and taught Mobil’s casing design, floating drilling and advanced mechanics courses for many years. David’s current interests include quantitative risk analysis and reliability-based design, as well as stochastic optimization methods applied to the oil and gas industry. He is very active in API and ISO committee work, serving on six different committees and is the current chairman of API Committees: API 5-EX (Solid Expandables), API RP 16Q (Marine Drilling Risers) and API 16R (Marine Drilling Risers Connectors). He has over twenty five archival publications and patents in various areas of tubular mechanics and structural engineering. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, and a member of ASCE and SPE. In 2009 and 2010 he served as a Distinguished Lecturer for SPE. Education includes BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla and postgraduate doctoral work in finite element methods, continuum mechanics, vibrations and structural dynamics.
PV (Suri) Suryanarayana – President and CEO
Operations, Engineering, Research and Development
Suri has 22 years of professional experience in the energy industry, including an extensive background in tubular mechanics, thermal problems, multiphase flow modeling and probabilistic design (Quantitative Risk Analysis) techniques. He is currently one of the lead instructors for Blade in their Advanced Thermal Well Design and Advanced Casing and Tubing Design courses. He has extensive experience in the design, engineering and implementation of complex UBD projects and critical wells, including High pressure High Temperature, Extended Reach and Deepwater wells. The underlying theme of his professional career has been solving unique engineering problems and developing new technologies and solutions in the energy industry. Lately, he has been very active in alternative energy engineering, thermal and geothermal well engineering, reliability-based design and quantitative risk analysis, and quantitative assessment of formation damage. Suri is also one of the founding partners of Blade Energy and is a member of SPE and ASME. He has authored or co-authored over 50 archival papers in the industry. Suri served as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer in 2006-07, and received the SPE Regional Drilling Engineering award for the Mid-continent region in 2013. Education credits include a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University.
Ravi Krishnamurthy - Executive Vice President
Mechanics, Materials and Corrosion
Ravi has over 22 years of experience in the upstream and downstream oil and gas industry, especially in metallurgical engineering, fracture mechanics, sour service design, pipeline integrity and corrosion engineering. His multidisciplinary industry breadth includes drilling, completion, reservoir and production. Throughout his career, Ravi has combined his core skills in engineering mechanics, metallurgy, chemistry, electrochemistry and fracture mechanics with a deep understanding of energy industry challenges, to develop creative and unique solutions for drilling, completion and pipeline integrity applications under extreme conditions of stress and environment. He has been instrumental in the engineering, design, testing and analysis of connections and materials for X-HPHT and geothermal applications. He is a member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, American Society of Metals and American Society of Testing Materials. Ravi holds several patents and has authored or co-authored over 30 archival publications. Ravi received his Ph.D in Materials Science from the University of Virginia.
Sriram Vasantharajan - Executive Vice President
Integrated Subsurface Studies and Reservoir Management
Sriram has over 24 years of industry experience, with broad knowledge of both Upstream and Downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. His current focus is integrated field studies and asset management, which spans from G&G, Petrophysics, and Reservoir engineering at one end to Facilities and Techno-Economics at the other. He has also been involved in Shale play evaluation, Sand control, Hydraulic fracturing design and application, Heavy oil thermal recovery, and Integrated studies for sub-economic/ marginal assets. Sriram has an extensive knowledge of theory and application of Operations Research/ Optimization techniques and their application in portfolio and asset management. He has significant experience with LP, NLP, and MIP mathematical algorithms and software packages and with general modeling environments (eg. GAMS, AIMMS, Excel). Sriram specializes in developing and applying mathematical optimization models to enhance economic value of oil & gas assets, as well as various refinery processes. He is a member of SigmaXi, SPE and AIChE, and has authored several archival papers, including a Distinguished Author series for SPE on field development optimization. Sriram received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
